Aberdeen Wine Appreciators Tastings

The regular Aberdeen Wine Appreciators tastings (AWA) began back in 1999.

The essence of the AWA tastings is to give wine tasters the opportunity to try wines which they would not normally try perhaps because of cost, limited availability or preconceptions!

I source wines from high street, independant and specialist suppliers to ensure the diversity of the wines which we taste.

Tastings are relaxed and informal and whilst I lead the tasting and introduce the wines, the emphasis is on group chat about the wines. They are ideal for any level of wine knowledge.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Please could I request that perfume/aftershave is not worn to allow the scents of the wines to shine.
The venue, unless otherwise stated is the Atholl Hotel on Kings Gate, Aberdeen http://www.atholl-aberdeen.co.uk/
Regular attendees are encouraged to bring along 6 clear wine glasses to allow you to line up and compare and contrast the wines. I have boxes of 6 ISO tasting glasses available at £17 per box
Tastings begin at 7.30pm prompt with the tutored tasting lasting for around 2 hours. We usually taste 8 different wines.
Apologies that refunds/credits/transfers can not be given for pre-paid missed sessions as wines will have arranged according to booked numbers but feel free to send someone along in your place, just let me know so that I can expect them.

Inspired by my latest study trip, I'll introduce you to some of the many appellations of this southern French region through a range of grapes and wine styles.

THURSDAY 22ND JUNE 2023-Introducing Roussillon

More from the South of France! Close to the Spanish border, the region of Roussillon produces a range of styles from textured whites, complex reds and sweet Vin Doux Natural.

THURSDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 2023-The White Wines of Spain Uncorked

It's time for the white wines of Spain to shine and this tasting will take you across the country with a tasting various grapes and wine styles.

THURSDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2023-Corvina Focus

We are heading to the North East corner of Italy for this tasting with a focus on the black grape Corvina. We will look at the rose and red wines of the DOC of Bardolino and then it's time for a Valpolicella style guide.

Block booking: Book and pay in advance for the May/June/Sept/Oct tastings for £100

Individual tasting booking: The cost per person per tasting is £30.00, bacs payment will be requested to confirm your booking.
